Last weekend the Wagga & District Champion of Champions Singles was played at The Rock Memorial Bowling Club. This pitted all the club singles champions from the district to find the District champion.
In Round 1 (quarter-final) the winners were: Heath Walker RSL 31-15 over Paul Flinn Yerong Creek, Ian (Mo) Martson 31-26 over Chris Guthrie Coolamon, Pedro Rudd Rules 31-23 over Max Montgomery Lockhart & Martin Cousley Junee had a w/o.
On Sunday morning in blistering cold conditions & fog all around the club the local boy in Ian (Mo) Marston played Heath Walker with the local Mo Marston finally getting over the top of Heath to secure a Finals berth by 31-27. The other semi-final pitted Pedro Rudd (Rules) against Martin Cousley (Junee) with Pedro coming out on top by 31-19 to reach the final in the afternoon.
So the final is to be played between the experienced Pedro Rudd (Rules) against the local favourite Ian (Mo) Martson.
The final was a game for the ages. The lead fluctuated between both players throughout the game with firstly Mo getting on top then Pedro getting a handy lead but in the end Pedro came away with the victory securing a 31-28 victory to now progress to the Zone Finals at the end of the month.
